What is Specialized Transportation in Douglas County?

Senior Connections’ Specialized Transportation Program provides safe, reliable, curb-to-curb transportation for Douglas County residents age 55 and older and individuals with disabilities. Our wheelchair-accessible vans help riders maintain their independence and get where they need to go safely and comfortably. To request a ride, call Senior Connections at 715-394-3611 and ask for the Transportation Department.


  • Eligibility: This service is available to Douglas County residents age 55 and older, or with a physical disability.
  • Payment: Payment is due at the time of your scheduled ride and must be made by cash or check.
  • Need assistance? If you require personal assistance during your ride or at your destination, you must arrange for someone to accompany you. Your escort may ride with you free of charge.



Where Can We Take You?

Specialized Transportation is available for a variety of needs within Superior and Douglas County, including:

  • Medical and personal appointments
  • Shopping and banking
  • Errands
  • Visits with family and friends
  • Other local destinations


PLEASE NOTE: Transportation to Duluth, Minnesota is available for medical appointments only.


We will drop you off at the entrance of your destination and pick you up when your appointment or visit is complete, helping eliminate the hassle of driving, finding parking, and walking long distances. If you require personal assistance during your trip or at your destination, you must arrange for someone to accompany you. Your escort may ride with you free of charge.


Ready to be picked up?

Call our office at 715-394-3611, provide your name, and let us know you are ready. We will give you an estimated pickup time. Please be patient, as pickup times may vary depending on our drivers' schedules and other riders.


How To Schedule a Ride

Rides are available Monday through Friday and must be requested at least 24 hours in advance. We recommend calling as early as possible, as availability is not always guaranteed.


1. Call Senior Connections:

Call 715-394-3611 and ask for Babbette, or the Transportation Department.


2.  Provide Your Information

Babbette or our front desk staff will collect your name, address, phone number, and the appointment information. Please have your destination’s address, and the time/date you need to be there by, readily available.


3. Wait for Confirmation From Our Transportation Director, Babette!

Babbette will call you back to confirm the availability, your ride details, and the total cost for the ride.


4. Your Ride Is Scheduled!

Your ride is officially scheduled only after Babbette has confirmed it with you. Office Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.



Transportation Rates:

Effective as of January 1, 2026.

Ride Hours: Monday through Friday. Start Time: 7:45 AM. End Time: 3:45 PM (Duluth) / 4:00 PM (Superior)

  • Superior → Superior: $10
  • Superior → Duluth (**Medical Only): $15
  • Superior → Proctor (**Medical Only): $15
  • Superior → Hermantown (**Medical Only): $20
  • Superior → Pike Lake (**Medical Only): $25
  • Village or Oliver → Superior: $12
  • Village or Oliver → Duluth (**Medical Only): $16
  • Village or Oliver → Proctor (**Medical Only): $16
  • Village or Oliver → Hermantown (**Medical Only): $22
  • Village or Oliver → Pike Lake (**Medical Only): $27


*Payment is due at the time of your scheduled ride and must be made by cash or check and given to your driver


**Transportation to Duluth, Proctor, Hermantown, and Pike Lake, Minnesota, is available for medical appointments only.


Cancellations & Rider Responsibilities:

  • If you need to cancel a scheduled ride, please call Senior Connections at (715) 394-3611 as soon as possible and let us know, so we can make that time available to another rider.
  • If you do not call ahead to cancel and are not available for your scheduled ride, it will be considered a no-show.
  • We ask all riders to treat our drivers and staff with kindness and respect.
  • Senior Connections reserves the right to decline future transportation services in cases of repeated no-shows, inappropriate or disrespectful behavior toward drivers or staff, or misuse of the program.
