Welcoming our new Nutrition Director at Senior Connections! Here is a short message from Karen.
"Hello Senior Connections Family!
My name is Karen LaBare, and I am absolutely thrilled to join you as your new Nutrition Director. Superior has been my home for 20 years. It is where I met my husband, raised our three children. I have spent over 13 years working in the Superior School District in food service and family engagement.
Nutritious food and strong relationships are my passions. Whether I see you in one of our congregate dining rooms or in your home, I’m excited to meet you and work together to strengthen our nutrition programs and our community. I look forward to connecting with each of you, so please feel free to reach out, call, or say hello!"

Good to Know Before You Visit:
We want everyone to enjoy a safe and welcoming dining experience at our Senior Community Lunch Sites!
Taking Your Meal Home
You're welcome to take home any portion of the meal served to you. Once food leaves the dining site, it is your responsibility to keep it stored and handled safely.
If you plan to take food home, we recommend:
- Bringing a cooler or insulated lunch bag with a cold pack to keep your meal cold until it can be refrigerated.
- Refrigerating your food as soon as possible.
- Not leaving food at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
- Asking the Meal Site Operator if you would like information about safely transporting and reheating your meal.
For everyone's safety, food may not be removed from the garbage.
Bringing Outside Food
To help us follow food-safety requirements, only food provided by Senior Connections may be distributed as part of our community meals. Outside food brought into a meal site cannot be distributed with Senior Connections meals and must be kept separate from the meal serving area. This helps ensure that all food served through our program has been properly prepared, stored, and transported according to food-safety standards.
Questions? If you're ever unsure about taking food home, bringing food to a site, or any of our dining guidelines, please ask your Meal Site Operator or call Senior Connections at 715-394-3611. We're happy to help!
