  • If you need to cancel at the last minute or on the day of your scheduled meal, please call us as soon as possible and before 9:00 a.m. *Please note that same-day cancellations cannot be guaranteed.
  • Frequent no-shows without notice may result in no longer being able to use our services.

Senior Connections routinely provides over 60,000 meals a year to participants in Douglas County, WI. These meals are delivered at our four available Senior Community Lunches sites, and through our home-delivered Meals on Wheels program. Interested in Our Home Delivered Meals?

Call Senior Connections at 715-394-3611 and ask for our Nutrition Director, Karen, for more information about Home-Delivered Meals or our Senior Community Lunch Sites. Senior Connections’ Home-Delivered Meals program (Meals on Wheels) helps eligible Douglas County residents receive nutritious meals at home when getting to a dining site or preparing meals independently is difficult.


Who May Qualify?

Home-delivered meals may be available to individuals who live in Douglas County and:

  • Have difficulty leaving their home without assistance due to illness, disability, frailty, or isolation.
  • Are unable to safely obtain food or prepare adequate meals on their own.
  • Do not have consistent help from family, friends, neighbors, or another meal support service.
  • Are unable to regularly attend a community dining site due to health or other circumstances.
  • Are the spouse of an eligible participant.
  • Are under age 60 with a disability and live with an eligible participant.


Eligibility is determined through a formal screening with Senior Connections staff. Please call our office and ask for Karen, to complete your application.


Current Meals on Wheels Participant?

If you are currently registered and receiving meals through Senior Connections’ Meals on Wheels program in Douglas County, please remember that we are required to complete an annual reassessment to confirm your continued eligibility for the program. When you are due for a reassessment, a member of our team will contact you to schedule a time for our Nutrition Services staff to meet with you in person, in your home. Completing this annual reassessment is required to continue participating in the Meals on Wheels program. If a reassessment is not completed or if you no longer not qualify, you may will not be eligible to receive home-delivered meals. Please call us if you have any further questions.

Don't Qualify for Home-Delivered Meals? Come Eat Lunch with Us!

Douglas County Senior Residents: If you're able to get out of the house and don't qualify for Home-Delivered Meals, we would love to welcome you to one of our Senior Community Lunch Sites! Our meal sites are about more than enjoying a nutritious meal. They're a great opportunity to get out of the house, spend time with others, socialize, and stay connected to your community. Come for lunch, stay awhile, visit with others, and enjoy some company!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a meal cost?

  • $6 suggested contribution per meal for qualified participants for both Meals on Wheels and Senior Community Lunches. Non-eligible guests who may be joining the qualified participant, must pay the full cost for the meal ($14.32). Please contact your Meal Site Operator if you have any questions.
  • Contributions are HIGHLY appreciated, but not required and will not determine whether you receive a meal.


What Nutrition Services are available?

  • Meals on Wheels: Home-delivered meals for eligible Douglas County residents, including Superior, South Range, Poplar, Lake Nebagamon, Maple, Bennett, Solon Springs, Gordon, and surrounding areas.
  • Senior Community Lunches: Meals served at four locations throughout Douglas County.
  • Eligible participants may bring family or friends to a community lunch. Guests who are not eligible for the program are welcome but must pay the full cost  ($14.32) of their meals at the meal site. You MUST add them to your reservation. This is available through Senior Community Lunches ONLY.


How do I get started or reserve meals?

  • Call (715) 394-3611 and ask for Karen, Nutrition Director, or stop by our office to apply!
  • You must reserve meals at least 24 hours in advance. Reservations can also be made days, weeks, or up to a month ahead. Please, call and provide the participant name(s), date(s), and meal site or address for home delivery.


What if I need to cancel?

  • Call (715) 394-3611 as soon as possible, preferably at least 24 hours in advance, with the participant name(s) and date(s) to cancel.
  • A family member, caregiver, or friend may call on your behalf. If needed, meals can be paused until further notice and restarted when you contact us.
  • Missed meals without notice are considered no-shows. Repeated no-shows may result in no longer being able to continue using the service.
